Moving through the world's major shipping routes is becoming increasingly dangerous. Sea robbery, kidnap, armed assault and the threat of maritime terrorism are putting new pressures on owners, masters, crew and companies. The safety and economic security of maritime activities depends upon the utilization of effective planning and professional training.

SSAS Monitoring Service
IMO and U.S. Coast Guard regulations require each vessel to have a Ship Security Alert System (SSAS). In the event of a security incident, the SSAS must be capable of transmitting an alarm signal ship-to-shore and be received by a competent authority, which may be the company or more effectively a designated security provider such as Special Projects Group.
Upon receipt of a security from your vessel, SPG will provide the following:
- Verify authenticity of the alarm from the vessel.
- Notify the proper company representative, usually the CSO.
- Notify appropriate Contracting Government for assistance.
- Verify receipt by or notify the appropriate Administration.
- Take necessary action on behalf of and as directed by the client.
Maritime security is best achieved by blending public and private maritime security activities on a global scale into an integrated effort that addresses all maritime threats. Special Projects Group has a extensive background in maritime interdiction and oil and gas floating assets threat mitigation. SPG provides its clients a comprehensive and cohesive plan involving appropriate Federal, State, local, and private sector entities.
